Have you noticed how empty the supermarket shelves get over Christmas? They soon fill up as the deliveries restart after the holiday but what would happen if for some reason the deliveries did not arrive! It is reckoned that there is only a few days or at most, one months supplies in the distribution warehouses.

What happens when you don't have the money to buy food due to an employer having a cash flow problem and holding back your pay for a week or two? Do you have enough in the cupboard to keep the family fed without buying anything else?

The answer to these problems is to store more food at home. This sounds quite easy until you start thinking about what extras you are going to buy for the store cupboard. You have some ideas and then a few months later you sort out the cupboard and end up filling a black bin bag full of food which has passed its sell by date.
